Free Conference for People and Carers affected by Cancer

Macmillan Cancer Support is holding a free conference on Health and Wellbeing at the beautiful Manor by the Lake, Cheltenham. "Moving On" will be held on the 9th. of October 2013, 9:30am to 3:30pm. The day will offer attendees the opportunity to listen to leading clinicians on current issues and initiatives in health and wellbeing for people affected by cancer and their carers. There will be a number of keynote speakers covering topics such as Eating Well, Survivorship and Physical Activity.

The afternoon sessions will allow you to attend workshops which include the choice of Walking for Health, Art Therapy, Mindfulness or a session led by Shoosmith's Solicitors about carers' rights, benefits and employment.

Deaf Association Stock Clearance

Samantha Quinson, from the Gloucestershire Deaf Association, has some old stock that they are selling cheaply such as telephone alerters, telephones, TV loops etc. If you know anyone who would like to buy any of these items, please ask them to contact Samantha. Free Health Check

If you are aged between 40 and 74, you will be invited to have a free health check at your GP surgery every five years. The check only takes about 20 minutes and could help you prevent heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes. Even if you feel fine, it's worth having the check. Free Eye Test at Home

If you are unable to visit an optician unaccompanied and are also in one of the following categories you can request a free eye test at home: 60 years or over; diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma; considered to be at risk of glaucoma; a close relative of someone with glaucoma; registered blind or partially sighted; have a complex prescription.
