Befrienders Needed

Can you spare an hour per week to go and talk to someone in their own home? Age Concern Forest needs volunteer befrienders. For further information contact Age Concern on 01594 845621.

DIY Tools

Do you know of any local organisations or groups which would benefit from donated DIY tools or gardening equipment? If so, please contact me with their details. (Tel: 07810 630 004 or email: Helen@villageagent.grcc.org.uk) Next time someone asks me to find a home for unwanted DIY tools, I will be able to signpost them locally.

Stroke Club

Disability Rights UK

From January 2012 a new charity comes into being: Disability Rights UK. The new charity is made up of three former charities: The National Centre for Independent Living, Radar and the Disability Alliance.

Community Health Trainer

Community Health Trainers offer support, information and guidance to people who want to make changes to their lifestyle. They offer realistic and practical help with improving your wellbeing, reducing stress and feeling better about yourself; healthy eating and weight management; stopping smoking; sensible drinking; becoming more physically active. The service is free, non-judgemental, confidential and easy to access. Loan Sharks

Beware purchasing anything at the doorstep, including loans. If you have money difficulties, the Forest of Dean Citizens Advice Bureau will give help and advice. Alternatively, anyone who lives or works in Gloucestershire can join the Credit Union and benefit from their affordable payment plans. If you are a Two Rivers tenant, contact 2R as they have joined the Credit Union. If you are affected by loan shark activity, email reportaloanshark@stoploansharks.gov.uk or call the Illegal Money Lending Team Tel: 0300 555 2222. You can also report your concerns through Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.
