Flood Prevention Roadworks

Work has recently begun to try to alleviate the problems caused by last year's floods in Church Road. Reconstruction of the bridge over Hope Brook near Hope Brook School and Tan House is ongoing with the plan being that if the brook does become so full from flash flooding that it overflows onto Church Road, then once the level in the brook recedes, the flood water in Church Road will go via a new drainage sysem back into the brook. The problem during last year's floods was that the brook overflowed into Church Road and stayed there, even though the level of the brook receded fairly rapidly once the rain had finally stopped. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of this.
