The Forest of Dean District Counsil is considering whether to shrink Longhope's conservation area. If the plans are successful then we could see more houses being built, particularly near the estate.
The boundary as it stands at the moment was put in place in March 1990 and includes many historic buildings and environmental features (e.g. Hobbs Quarry see also Geography). The boundary covers mainly the core of the village which was designed to protect these features from modern day buildings.
